하태임 (b.1973)은 캔버스 안에서 색채 가득 둘러싼 선율의 컬러밴드를 그려내는 작가이다. 캔버스에 수직으로 교차하는 선들은 곡선을 그리지만 하나의 일정한 패턴을 보이면서 위 아래로 겹겹이 나타나는데 이를 작가는 '색채의 교향곡과 같은 느낌으로 작업한다'고 표현했다. 이처럼 완성된 작업은 다양함 속에서 색면의 하모니를 이루어 낸다. 이 조화를 최대한 맑게 표현하기 위해 아크릴물감을 묽게 만든 후 투명하게 한 붓질을 하고 마른 후에 다시 한번 그 위에 겹쳐지는 과정을 거친다. 작가는 어린시절 마네의 '피리부는소년'으로부터 영감을 시작으로 발전되어 작가 관점에 의해 색띠로 응축되어 만들어진 언어의 기호 및 메세지, 즉 컬러밴드를 통해 작품의 의도를 내포하고 있다. 특히 '통로'(un passage)는 작품을 통해 하나의 연결고리로서 작가에게 작업의 출발점이자 중요한 개념으로 여겨지는 '소통'을 관객과 시도하는 듯하다.
